THE Archbishop of Canterbury has awarded Little Lever-born journalist Michael Taylor a Lambeth degree.
Mr Taylor, 60, was presented with the Master of Letters from Dr George Carey in recognition of his contributions to religious journalism.
Mr Taylor started in journalism on the Farnworth and Worsley Journal after leaving Bolton School.
He was the editor of the Methodist Recorder for 17 years up until his retirement earlier this year.
He is also a former editor of the Evening Post and Chronicle in Wigan.
He now lives in Hove, East Sussex, and is a non-executive director of the Methodist Newspaper Company Ltd, publishers of the Methodist Recorder, an independent weekly newspaper.
