WOULD you like to commemorate someone close to you who has died of cancer?

Marie Curie Cancer Care in Bolton has a lovely idea set to bloom in Bolton next spring. The Field of Hope in Moss Bank Park will form a living memorial to local people.

Hundreds of daffodils will be planted to create it, and donors can take part in the planting ceremony at the end of this month.

A memorial stone is to be placed in the Field of Hope with a Roll of Honour plaque bearing dedications to departed family members or friends, and the names of those who have been donated.

Any donation of £100 will allow the donor to have a dedication of their choice entered onto the plaque. This plaque will be divided into two sections, one bearing the "in memoriam" dedications to loved ones who have died from cancer, and the other will list the names of donating schools, companies and groups.

The plaque will also bear the name of Diana, Princess of Wales, whose caring endeavours brought hope to millions of people around the world.

Cheques must be made payable to Marie Curie Cancer Care, who will receipt all donations. And money raised from the appeal - which has been spearheaded locally by TV presenter Jenny Powell (pictured right) - will be used to increase the number of Marie Curie nursing hours in Bolton.

This will then help more families who need extra support to care for a relative with cancer.

Anyone who would like to attend the planting ceremony should contact Lesley Jackson at the charity's Greater Manchester fund-raising office on 0161-480-3002. If you would like to help with the planting of the bulbs, contact Alan Dallas at Bolton Leisure Services on 01204-522311.

To make your donation for this lovely, annual floral memorial, just fill in the form here and return it to: FIELD OF HOPE APPEAL, c/o Bolton Evening News, Newspaper House, Churchgate, Bolton BL1 1DE.
