Radcliffe Boro 6, Lancaster City 2 LIFE in the UniBond Premier Division finally became an enjoyable experience for Radcliffe Boro last night.

Lancaster City were ripped apart at Stainton Park as Boro romped to a 6-2 victory.

New signing Kevin Booth, the former Leigh RMI assistant manager and central defender made his debut, and what a difference he brought to a side that had only registered one win in 10 league outings.

The player, fired at Hilton Park last week, had a point to prove, and he did so in emphatic style with a dominating link-up in defence alongside Simon Whittle and a telling hand in three of Radcliffe's goals.

Conceding in the first minute has been a Boro Achilles heel in recent games. There was a goal in the opening seconds last night, but this time it was in Radcliffe's favour as City defender Alex Jones put into his own net.

Kevin Glendon's side constantly took the game to Lancaster but got hit on the break on 36 minutes when Dobie curled in a beauty.

Ian Lunt smacked in a pile driver on the hour and Joe Connor latched on to Booth's through ball to conjure a magical finish on 67 minutes.

Lunt manfully chased what appeared to be a lost cause to dispossess a defender and set up Jason Ashley to smack in a fourth.

Boyd got a second for City on 78 minutes but the relief was brief as Paul Lyons finished off a move started in his own half just six minutes later.

With four minutes left, Radcliffe Man of the Match Colin McRory headed home after Lunt's shot had hit the crossbar.
