SIR: We read in the BEN of the building of all these multi cinemas. Could we have for the millennium a memorial to Diana, Princess of Wales? Something she herself was interested in - dancing and opera.

The old fire station could be made into a theatre to surpass all other theatres with a stage on which all our splendid amateur operatic and dramatic societies would find it a pleasure to act on and an audience to hear even a pin drop. The theatre could be called The Princess of Wales Theatre.

We have a super orchestra in Bolton, under the skilled direction of Paul Payton, which can accompany the ballet and opera companies.

Adjoining, there could be a ballroom and this could also be used for the roller skaters.

As an annual event, there could be a carnival like the old Bolton Royal Infirmary Carnival, which had all the people of Bolton and districts joining in, with floats, Morris dancers, jazz bands, horses dressed up, which Tetley Brewery are good at. People and children could see the judging of the different events. Firms could donate cups or plaques all in memory of our Princess, The Queen of Hearts.
