THE new version of Andrew Morton's controversial biography on Diana, Princess of Wales has sold out at one Bolton book shop even before stocks have arrived.

Sweetens on Deansgate say they have sold their first consignment before they are on the shelves.

"We have put through order after order," said director Sandra Heilberg.

And WH Smith at the Town Hall Square have stopped taking orders for the hard back books already.

Manageress Loraine Barratt said: "There has been a big demand, especially on Saturday, and we had to refuse taking them in the end because we didn't know if we could get them all."

A spokesperson for the Smiths chain said books are expected to be delivered to the shops by the end of today. Alisons Books at St Andrew's Court have also seen a lot of interest in the new £14.99 book.

Manager Ian Allwood expects 40 books for their initial consignment.

He said: "Our wholesalers get deliveries in batches and hopefully we will have copies today."

The controversial publication has been for sale in central London bookshops since Saturday.
