AGE Concern in Bolton are trying to find local people to run in next year's Flora London Marathon.

The Age Concern charity nationally is a main benefactor from the 1998 race and is aiming to raise £1 million nationwide.

Money raised by Bolton runners will either be spent locally or go into the ActivAge fund, to support projects which help older people stay active and healthy.

"This is a huge fund-raising opportunity for Age Concern," said Gareth Evans, Bolton Age Concern's Chief Officer.

"Whether you want to run for fun or fulfill a life ambition, get in touch."

Runners in the Age Concern team receive a running vest, a chance to win valuable prizes, a pre-race meeting point near the start and a post-race reception - complete with the essential foot massage.

Runners can apply for a general place in the marathon by calling the hotline on 01925 417744 before the October 25 deadline.

But Age Concern also has guaranteed places for anyone who misses out and will pledge to raise £1,000. Anyone interested can call Gareth on 01204 382411.
