WHILE British Gas and Norweb are engaging in the energy price war, the consumers should reap the benefits of lower prices.

The electricity and gas supply markets are being opened up to competition next year and British Gas has pledged that its electricity prices, once it starts supplying, will be cheaper than any of the competition.

In the other camp Norweb has launched ENERGi, a one-stop shop which will supply gas as well as electricity.

Competition is healthy and in this instance should benefit the customers.
