SIR: I was interested to see an advertisement in a recent edition of the Bolton Evening News promoting the Albert Halls as a conference centre. One of the inducements was "Free car parking for delegates".
This seems rather unfair as the people of Bolton - paying council tax to Bolton -appear to be subsidising car parking for others while paying extortionate amounts for using the facilities themselves.
Perhaps there is a satisfactory explanation and, if so, I think your readers would be interested in hearing it.
