Gainsborough Trinity 3, Radcliffe Boro 0 RADCLIFFE Boro went down in a 3-0 defeat at Gainsborough Trinity but the scoreline hardly gave a fair account of the Boro performance.

Bad luck appears to be the order of the day at the moment, although something is definitely going wrong in the Radcliffe dressing room.

On no less than five occasions so far this season goals have been conceded in the openings minutes of the second half and twice in the opening minute of the game.

It happened again on Saturday when Gainsborough took the lead after only 45 seconds and finished the game off with a killer third just three minutes after the interval, having hit a second on seven minutes.

"It's incredible," commented club spokesman David Johnston. "It's almost as if we don't come out of the changing rooms until each half is 10 minutes old. Then we play some great stuff but can't make up for what we've already conceded."

From the kick off Gainsborough's Maxwell was allowed to waltz through the entire Radcliffe defence and smack the ball in for a first minute opener.

Simon Whittle had gone close with a header from a corner before Mike Farrelly conceded an unnecessary free kick on the edge of the area on seven minutes.

With two Trinity players left virtually unmarked, Riley fired home.

Boro began to bounce back and Joe Connor headed wide with the goal at his mercy. Just before half time David Dean pulled up with an injury and had to limp off, closely followed by Mike Farrelly being sent off for a second bookable offence.

Just after the restart Timmons blasted in the third from the edge of the area.
