FAMILY bakers Warburtons made a donation when they heard of the plight of a school for disabled children.

The Bolton-based bakers pledged £4,500 to RNIB Sunshine House School in Southport for vital physiotherapy equipment.

The donation has gone towards the purchase of specialist equipment needed to keep children with multiple disabilities comfortable and to prevent any physical deterioration.

Warburtons corporate affairs manager, Jill Kippax, said: "Many of the children are unable to move, sit or even lie down without constant support.

"When we heard of the school's appeal we thought it so important to help provide them with the proper support they need in order to make the most of their abilities.

The cash helped to replace special padded chairs and pillows as well as floor mats and walking frames.

Headteacher of Sunshine House, Judy Bell, said: "We would like to thank all at Warburtons for this generous donation.

"It is really heartening that a local company takes such an interest in the community and appeals such as ours."
