MARK Fish was today having further tests on the knee injury which ruled him out of Saturday's draw at Palace.

The £2million South African defender has been in hospital since last Wednesday and was having an exploratory examination to discover the extent of the problem.

He will miss tomorrow night's Coca-Cola Cup second round second leg tie with Leyton Orient at The Reebok Stadium and faces a race to be fit for Saturday's Premiership home clash with Aston Villa when Nathan Blake, outstanding at Palace, starts a three-match ban.

Wanderers will be desperate for John McGinlay, who has missed the last two games with an Achilles injury, to return to face Villa while boss Colin Todd continues to scan the Continent for new striking talent. He today dismissed speculation that Fish's former Lazio team-mate Ronato Buso or Blackburn's Per Pedersen - who Wanderers almost signed last season - were on his wanted list.
