BOLTON'S Derek Fairhurst drove brilliantly to finish fourth in the Formula One world stock car final at Bradford on Saturday.
The veteran racer had started on the eighth row but patiently picked his way through the field, just missing out on the rostrum as the chequered flag fell.
Ainsworth-based Fairhurst, 44, who had been sponsored by three local firms for the big race, beat the best Dutch, New Zealand and American drivers in his fifth World Final won by Clitheroe's John Lund
His previous best finish had been seventh, also at Bradford, three years ago.
Clitheroe's John Lund won the title for the sixth time to equal the legendary Stuart Smith's record.
