The Hepton Singers from Hebden Bridge will give a concert in St Bartholomew's Parish Church, Westhoughton, on Saturday.

The concert was arranged by Peter Tillotson, a Boltonian and son of the former chairman of the BEN, Marcus Tillotson, and a long-standing member of the Singers.

He describes the acoustics of St Bartholomew's as "brilliant."

The centrepiece of the concert is a mass Ascendens Christus by the 16th century Spanish composer Tomas Luis de Victoria.

The concert starts at 8 pm. Tickets may be bought at the door.

The Brixi Singers, conducted by Richard Lea, present A Harvest Concert this Sunday at St Bede's Church, Morris Green, Bolton, at 7 pm.

The popular play Spring and Port Wine, written by Bolton's Bill Naughton, is being staged by Christ's Church Harwood Hams in the school from October 2 to 4 at 7.30 pm. Tickets from 394649.

The "Best of British" music, which will be accessible and entertaining, is promised for two concerts presented by Bolton Sinfonietta and Bolton Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Paul Payton.

The Sinfonietta concert is on Saturday, October 4, at 7.30 pm in the Thornleigh College Chapel and will feature Mark Almond of Bolton School and the National Youth Orchestra as soloist on the French Horn.

The performance by Bolton Symphony Orchestra with Jacqueline Davies as piano soloist is at Bolton School (Boys' Division) at 3 pm on November 23.
