SIR: Interesting (well sometimes!) to hear Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott say on television that if the vote in Scotland for a parliament was yes, then it opened the door in England for regional government. He didn't say assembly!

Local Labour leader Bob Howarth has gone on record in an article in the Journal, saying he's in favour of regional government, as it will eliminate quangos. So, he must know of quangos in this area. So will he be good enough, in these columns to list the quangos, name those who sit on them, their funding and any other relevant information.

Failing that, where can the general public obtain this information?

It could be that the mute opposition councillor in the town hall could jump in and supply the information. Doubtful, on both counts.
