SIR: Vision Aid, the Bolton based charity supporting blind and visually impaired children would once again appeal to your readers for their support and generosity on the occasion of the Vision Aid Street Collection, which will take place in the Bolton town centre on Saturday, June 14.

Developments within our charity have attracted national media coverage during the course of recent months, and Vision Aid was one of the charities promoted during the course of the GMTV "Get Up and Give" programmes this week. Tuesday was our 'feature day' including a Birthday Breakfast at the Granada Studio Tours set to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

This type of publicity will undoubtedly attract many more families desperately needing our help and the proceeds from the street collection are devoted to ensuring that Vision Aid is able to maintain the quite unique range of free services it is now able to offer to these families.

Vision Aid, in turn, urgently needs helpers to ensure that the collection is a success.

If anyone is willing to join in our efforts on behalf of blind children and can offer some of their time on June 14, may I ask them to contact Vision Aid on 01204 531882 or to just come along to our control point, which will be a vehicle near the Chadwick Memorial on Victoria Square on the day. The collection will take place between 9 am and 6 pm and their assistance for any period, no matter how short, will be more than appreciated.
