BOLTON author Tom Bridge has cooked up a campaign to put British beef back on the menu.

The international Master Chef has produced a book containing 200 mouth-watering recipes which have beef as the main ingredient.

And he believes the tasty dishes will tempt the public to put any fears about mad cow disease on the back burner.

For the Bolton cookery writer who now lives near Parbold says he is convinced British beef is "the best in the world" and completely safe.

"Quality assurance and strict industry guidelines mean that this wonderful home grown product can once again be bought with confidence," says the blurb on the inside of the book jacket.

Bridge on British Beef is backed by the British Meat and Livestock Commission and is bound to cause a stir when it goes on sale this Autumn.

Butchers hit hard by the BSE crisis will also be promoting the £17.99 tome in their shops.

Recipes vary from the traditional casseroles to the exotic and the book includes sections explaining all you need to know about buying, storing and choosing beef.

Chef Tom Bridge is now established as a top author with 10 cookery books to his name.

As well as being active in the world of food, he acts as independent consultant advising TV shows and restaurants.
