BOLTON pensioner Elizabeth Westwell failed to win through to the finals of a major song and dance contest in Morecambe last night.
The Bradshaw woman, a former nurse who sings with the Manchester and District Hospitals Choir, described her "disappointment" today.
Coachloads of local supporters, including Bolton Mayor Cllr Peter Birch, followed Elizabeth to The Dome in Morecambe last night to watch pensioners competing in the Northern Area Senior Citizen's Talent Contest Finals.
Elizabeth, 71, a former cabaret singer who sang Don't Cry For Me Argentina in the contest, said: "I've entered twice and have got through to exactly the same position twice. I don't think I'll be having a go next year. I'm very disappointed. But I want to thank everyone from Bolton who came to give me support."
