CRUEL thieves have picked on a girl in six billion!

Little Evelyn Jones -who attends Chorley's Mayfield School - is the only known person in the world suffering from Undiagnosed Congenital Syndrome.

But callous car robbers imprisoned the four-year-old youngster in her home - by stealing the gas bottle from her vital portable oxygen cylinder.

Little Evelyn, who can't walk or speak, is oxygen dependent and mum Barbara needs the cylinder with her when she takes her out.

Thieves stole the £200 bottle, complete with slow-flow meter and a disabled child's buggy, from Mrs Jones' Nissan Micra in a Bolton town centre car park.

Evelyn needs apparatus to aid her breathing virtually all day. She wears both oxygen and feeding pipes up her nostrils.

Mrs Jones said: "There have been times when she has been very ill. Six months ago doctors didn't want to continue treatment because she was so ill, but she managed to pull back from the brink."

Evelyn smiled as her mum continued: "Hopefully she's forgotten all about that."

The family still has to make constant trips to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital where she is treated by surgeon Adrian Bianchi who treated little Laura Davies.

Kind-hearted donors have already offered to replace the oxygen equipment and hopefully Evelyn will soon be back at Mayfield School.
