BOOTHS Supermarkets celebrates its 150th anniversary on June 12.
The company was founded by Edwin Henry Booth in Market Street, Blackpool in 1847.
The first branch was opened in Chorley in 1855 and the head office has been in Fishergate, Preston since 1867.
It still remains an independent chain, employing 1,600 staff and operating 24 supermarkets throughout the North-west, Lancashire, Cumbria, Cheshire and Yorkshire.
The current chairman, Mr Edwin Booth, is the great great grandson of the founder.
He said: "The many changes that have taken place since those first years of trading are really of technique and location.
"We still sell the best goods we can buy and pride ourselves on the quality of our staff."
