Turton produced another excellent all-round display to retain the Bolton Evening News Cup in the Bolton Charity Golf Tournament at The Gt Lever and Farnworth course.

The team comprised Paul Gandy, Chris Hulme, Ben Crompton and Dave Crompton.

Great Lever and Harwood finished joint runners up on 84 points.

The JT Howcroft Trophy, awarded to the pair with most Stableford points was won by Turton's Gandy and Hulme with 43 points.

Runners-up with 41 points (after a seven way cpo) were Dean Sheridan and Derek Stafford of Gt Lever.

YOUNG golfing stars of the future from Dunscar Golf Club will be looking to follow in the footsteps of the European Ryder Cup heroes by playing at Valderrama in the final of the 1997 Dairy Mail PGA Junior Championship.

The Club Qualifying Round is on June 16, with the best nett and gross scores for boys and girls seeing them reach the Regional Final at Ormskirk Golf Club, Lathom on August 21.

The Grand Final will be staged on the prestigious Spanish course, just six weeks after the biennial Ryder Cup, on November 3-4.

HARWOOD Ladies Jubilee Trophy was won by C Strickleton 95-24-71 from P Barlow 91-20-71, R Towler 83-10-73 and TPlTHE NSPCC Ladies Golf Classic, the country's only national amateur tournament for women, will stage the qualifying matches of this Fourball Betterball Stableford competition by mid-July.

Winners will attend all expenses paid, regional finals at 11 venues around England, Wales and Northern Ireland during August and September. The Grand Final will be held at Staverton Park, Northants on October 11 and 12.
