A thousand years, so long ago it seems.
Mountains of memories, wrapped in dreams.
And yet, I must confess, like shining stars, old memories stay
As near and dear as yesterday.
Treasured moments lost in thoughts so close to me.
Remembering time has slipped away.
Be it tomorrow or yesterday, when hearts were young and gay.
A million memories, woven in dreams,
Of my first communion day.
Pure in white dress, angelic face, the fragrance of sweet flowers.
Rose petals strewn before me, hands joined round, clasps a rosary.
Head bowed low, I knelt to pray, let my heart forever stay,
A fragile image, when life seemed to say,
Never from you will I stray,
Remembering with love my first communion day. By I Hamer
