SIR: I refer to Mr Alker's letter May 28, regarding the relief road at Kearsley. I can assure Mr Alker I was at the meeting at the same time but I was listening to ALL points of view not just Mr Alker's. It seems Mr Alker (ex Councillor) does not want a road from the rear of Lyons Industrial Estate at any cost and Mr Alker will not listen to the 90 per cent views of the people at the meeting. I will say again Pilkington Road do not want the traffic, Springfield Road don't and Bolton Road don't. Mr Alker maybe was not listening when the bench said PROPOSED alternative routes.

Perhaps Mr Alker has got the road built already without listening to anyone else - as what happened with Lyons Estate. Perhaps I should tell you I have now involved our local MP about the access traffic on Bolton Road and the three junctions within 640 yards and the back up it would cause at Stoneclough, not counting noise, fumes and vibration. I say again we have a main road on the front, a motorway at the side, Pilkington Road on the other side we don't want one rear as well, and it wouldn't be very safe or healthy for George Tomlinson's School children

So if we cannot resolve it - leave it alone, local people will be much happier.
