WIGAN Warriors stand-off Nigel Wright has been cleared to play in the club's opening World Club Championship game against Canterbury Bulldogs on Monday.

Wright missed the easy win over Paris last week with a shoulder injury but after intensive treatment since arriving in Australia has been given the all clear and will step up training tomorrow.

He said: "My shoulder has been sore but it is improving all the time and I will be 100 per cent fit for the match.

"After all the injuries I have suffered, in the last couple of years, there is no way I am going to miss the opening match."

Wigan, who will be at full strength for the game, step up training tomorrow and Friday with intensive physical workouts before easing down at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Wigan have been given a helping hand from rivals Brisbane Broncos as they prepare for the opening round of matches.

The Warriors noticed that the Australian rugby balls were slightly smaller and more rounded than the English variety and sent an SOS for an emergency supply from the Broncos.

"It's vital that we use the same ball in training as for the matches," said Wigan coach Eric Hughes.

"The balls were slightly different. But Brisbane readily sent us half a dozen of theirs and we're very grateful."

Prop Terry O'Connor is Wigan's only doubt for the Canterbury game.

"Although Terry missed part of our training session because of his ankle injury, he will be fit for the match against the Bulldogs," said Hughes.
