AN evangelistic faith healer who claims to miraculously cure ailments and illnesses will be offering to heal sick and disabled people in Leigh during a four-day visit.

The Rev Melvin Banks starts his "healing crusade" on June 16 at Kings Park Christian Centre, Leigh Road, Leigh.

The 51-year-old preacher regularly holds services in front of thousands of people and, at the end of each service, lays hands on the sick and prays for their healing.

He claims his successes have made the deaf able to hear, cripples walk and the blind see.

In addition, he says he has hundreds of letters from people "healed" of arthritis, shingles, slipped discs, thrombosis, heart disease, strokes, paralysed conditions, nerves, tumours, diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, tension, fibrositis, and many other diseases.

The Kings Park centre is sponsoring the visit and its minister, the Rev David Benson, said: "We are greatly privileged to have the Rev Banks with us.

"He is in great demand and it is difficult to get hold of him for missions. I am sure many people in the area will avail themselves of this wonderful opportunity."

Mr Banks, who has sold 60,000 copies of his book on healing and has appeared on TV and radio, will appear at 7.30pm every evening from June 16 to 19, with an afternoon service on June 17 at 1pm.
