SIR: I have been following the correspondence between Christine Adams and Cllr. Brian Iddon about the record of David Young MP. Cllr Iddon seems to think that Mr Young was a good MP; an opinion to which he is certainly entitled.

A few years ago I wrote to all three Bolton MPs and the Prime Minister. With the sole exception of Mr Young, they responded promptly and politely. Thinking that Mr Young may not have received my letter I wrote again, several times. Still no acknowledgement.

I would respectfully suggest that if Mr Young's behaviour on these occasions was in any way typical, then he can hardly qualify for such encomiums as offered by Cllr.Iddon.
