Bishop Auckland 1 Chorley 3

AN excellent performance by Chorley saw them collect their first win since Christmas and their first ever victory at Bishop Auckland.

The home side boasted the best defensive record in the league at the start of play but were torn apart as the Magpies turned on the style.

Chorley got off to the best possible start with a sixth minute goal. Thorpe had already gone close from a corner, but from a second corner which was only half cleared Sang fired in a shot which took a wicked deflection to leave keeper Bishop stranded.

It was Sang's maiden goal for Chorley and on the half hour mark Potts claimed his first for the Magpies.

Chorley broke quickly from defence and Trundle, who had a superb game, released Potts who drew Bishop before beating the keeper with a sumptuous chip.

On the hour mark, Bishop Auckland pulled one back from a highly contentious penalty when the referee harshly adjudged Wright to have handled Bayles' shot and Waller slammed in the spot kick.

There was a 15 minute hold up when an injury forced referee Blanchard from the field and a substitute linesman needed to be found.

Eventually senior linesman Peter Cook took over in the middle - a case of "not only a linesman but also a referee!"

Chorley had looked the better side throughout and confirmed their superiority seven minutes from time with a third goal. Man of the match Lee Trundle gained possession in the box and drew Bishop before cleverly beating the keeper with a delightful shot which took a slight defection on its way into the net.

This Saturday Chorley entertain Frickley Athletic at Victory Park.
