THE family of a Bolton girl severely injured when she fell from a wall have spoken of their delight at her brave recovery.

Symone Longworth, aged 11, suffered serious head injuries but has now been taken off a ventilator at Walton Hospital, Liverpool.

But Symone, of View Street, Daubhill, still requires close medical attention.

As reported in the BEN, Symone fell more than six feet off a wall in Willows Lane. For several days she was on a life support machine.

Brother Ken Bromiley, 25, said: "We are very pleased with how Symone is doing. There are still problems that need to be sorted out and she may need some ear, nose and throat surgery.

"But she is able to eat properly and she has been able to talk a bit to us."

Symone had been due to start the new term at Withins School, Breightmet, this week.

Mr Bromiley added: "The main problem now is that she is very upset and gets down easily - she really needs some cheering up and we are finding it quite a struggle to keep her happy."
