SIR: I felt I must reply to Mr T Bromley letter (Viewpoint, August 25) about Medical Research. I merely asked him if one life was not as important as another.

If aliens landed and they were a far superior race than ourselves, would it be all right for them to cage us and experiment on us to further their medical progress?

Would Mr Bromley still be saying that this is their right, to use and abuse our bodies, not their own bodies of course, to fulfil their hope. I doubt it.

If his ambition is to see a cure for a rare genetic disorder may I suggest he volunteer his own life for experiment and see then how keen he is on the idea.
