SIR: May I draw the attention of those of your readers who relish a challenge to the British Heart Foundation Israel and Jordan Experiences. This programme of nine-day (4/5 cycling days) escorted bike rides across Israel or Jordan, is being staged during 1997 to raise funds for further vital research into heart disease - the UK's biggest killer.
The two rides in April take place in Israel and the third ride in October will be in Jordan. Imagine cycling through deserts, craters and nature parks, past mountains and crusader castles, beside rivers and seas - with the opportunity to experience rugged terrain and off-road biking.
As past Captain of the England Rugby Team, I know how important team spirit and camaraderie is when working towards a common goal. These same elements are essential when undertaking a challenging event such as the Israel and Jordan Experiences, where the objective is to ride around 50 miles a day, sometimes in intense heat.
Anyone with a true sense of adventure, over 18 years of age and reasonably fit, who would like to take part in the Israel and Jordan Experiences and help in the fight against heart disease - should FreeCall 0500 200575. These fund-raising adventures depart on 5 April, 12 April and 4 October 1997.
