BURY are running the rule over a handful of trialist hopefuls.

Gigg Lane boss Stan Ternent is putting the potential additions through their paces in training and gave a defensive duo Matthew Hurst and Ian Brunskill a runout in last night's 3-0 friendly victory at Radcliffe Boro.

Hurst, and 18-year-old centre half, was with Millwall while left back Brunskill, 19, was at Anfield.

Two goals by striker David Johnson and one by skipper David Pugh maintained Bury's impressive pre-season momentum against the local non-leaguers who were delighted by a crowd in excess of 800. Midfield Nick Daws has signed a new deal to leave goalkeeper Gary Kelly as the only member of Bury's first team squad out of contract.

Lenny Johnrose is to see doctors after suffering an injury to his thumb at home.
