DOROTHY Thomasson has become the first woman President of Farnworth AODS.

For 11 years Dorothy served as the society's Chairman and earlier this year, when she celebrated her half-century with Farnworth, she became the society's first Chairman/Vice -president.

She was recently presented with her 50 years' gold medal for service to the society.

A spokeswoman for Farnworth said: "It is fitting that her 50 years' wealth of experience is still available to the Society."

The new Chairman is Roy Mitchell, Vice-chairman for 11 years, who has been with Farnworth for 48 years. In the early years he was a playing member of the society, but for the last 15 years has been Stage Director.

The new Ticket Secretary is Peggy Mort - 01204 527092.

As has become the custom since Farnworth began playing at the Albert Halls 11 years ago, they are presenting a bi-annual revue this year. It will be on September 21 and 22 at 7.15 and this year it will be a variety show with compere Cyril Armstrong.

Guests include Graham Edgington, Nora and Don Howcroft, Janice and Ian Lewis and comedian Brian Clare.

Bernard Smith is directing and J Arnold Thornton is the Musical Associate and Accompanist.

Tickets are available from any member of the society, any branch of St Andrews Travel or from Peggy Mort.
