SIR: Recently, I attended Stocks Park Residential Home fully intending to use a social evening to ask councillors if they support the threat of closure of the home. Sixty councillors were written to or phoned and invited along.
Apathy is rife among these representatives, only Barbara Ronson, the Mayor of Horwich and Joyce Kellet took the trouble to pop in to pledge their support, only three councillors phoned in to give apologies, Cllrs Murray, McKracken and White.
Let me warn the uncaring absent members of the council we will reflect our feelings at the ballot box. Surely those who care can at least write their letters of support or if they dare non support. Abstentions will be regarded as against.
Without them staff and many many visitors were entertained by Nellie Critchley the Lancashire Dialect Poet, Howard Broadbent and the Lancashire Lads. A good night was had by all.
