PENSIONERS Marie and James Barber are demanding justice for all when it comes to compensation after enduring a "nightmare" holiday in the sun.

Mr and Mrs Barber are angry that travel firm Inspirations gave different amounts of compensation to customers staying at the same hotel - which was still under construction during their visit.

The couple, who live in Bernard Grove, Bolton, had hoped for a peaceful two weeks on the isle of Cyprus to help Mr Barber, 65, convalesce after a stroke.

But they say that when they arrived at the sunshine resort of Papos, in May, to their horror they found the hotel Oloa like a building site with some apartments only half finished.

Mrs Barber, who was joined on the £1,500 holiday by her sister and brother-in-law, said everyone was so angry that most made formal complaints to the travel firm on their return. Mrs Barber explained: "Although I was furious, I didn't want to make a fuss because of James.

"We complained to Inspiration and they offered us £30 each compensation which we accepted.

"Being well-mannered and nice on the telephone gets you nowhere. We weren't happy about what we were offered it's just that I didn't want my husband to get upset."

Mrs Barber's sister Josie Thornton did not accept the £30 compensation offered and threatened to take the matter further.

Now Mrs Thornton and husband, George, of Blackburn Road, Bolton, have just received a cheque for £300 from the travel firm. "Everyone who went on that holiday should be treated the same when it comes to compensation, because we all suffered the same," Mrs Barber commented.

A spokesman from Inspirations, said the firm would not discuss individual cases. However she said that because the couple had accepted full and final payment the matter was closed.

She said: "That is our policy. Once customers have accepted the compensation offered cases are closed.

"If customers are not happy withM-VM-V compensation offered they should not accept it."
