A RAMSBOTTOM woman who believes her dog has telepathic powers has helped research a TV show. Pam Smart carried out research for a new BBC series on strange phenomena such as animal telepathy, which will be broadcast next Tuesday. Pam, of Kay Brow, became involved in the project after hitting the headlines a few years ago, when she claimed her dog Jay Tee had a sixth sense.

Although Pam, 39, is not featured in the programme - Out Of This World, presented by Carol Vorderman - she found other pet owners willing to reveal all about their psychic pets.

Pam explained: "I spoke to pet owners who seriously believe they have close links with their pets.

"I found many owners who have noticed that their pets know things are going to happen even before they do.

"Some pets seem to sense when their owners are going to return home, when they are going to be fed, or when visitors are going to arrive, even though these things happen at random."

Pam, who was invited on the Oprah Winfrey show in the US with Jay Tee, added that she and the seven-year-old mongrel are not featured in the programme because they feared over exposure.

"Jay Tee has appeared on many television shows and in magazines and newspapers, we thought it best if other cases were highlighted," she said.

Pam became involved after she and her family noticed that Jay Tee became agitated when certain things were going to happen.

She contacted expert Dr Rupert Sheldrake after reading his book "Seven Experiments That Could Change The World" and has never looked back.

Co-director for "Out Of This World", Jane Topping, said the aim of the series was to highlight unexplained phenomena. She said: "We hope the programme will make people think and perhaps make pet owners look at their animals in a new light.

"One features a woman from Lincolnshire, who believes her dog can read her mind and another is a dog with a homing sense."
