WHEN Frank and Kathleen Helps emigrated to Canada many years ago, they lost touch with two special friends.

But now the couple are making a return visit to Bolton and are hoping that the Mayor of Bolton can help them trace their long lost pals, Derek and Margaret Crowther.

Derek and Margaret had two children, Anthony and Mark, and used to live in Bolton until 1959 when they moved away from the area. They will now be in their 60s.

Derek was an only child and used to work in the British Rail sheds at Agecroft in Salford.

Margaret (nee Tate) had several brothers, including one called Billy.

Before she married Derek she lived in Little Lever. Frank and Kathleen are looking forward to returning to Bolton and as part of their visit will be calling on the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton on Thursday.

Mayor, Cllr Eric Johnson, said: "It would be wonderful if we could help Frank and Kathleen trace their old friends.

"We're hoping someone will be able to tell us where Derek and Margaret Crowther now live.

"It would be great for the two couples to meet up again after all this time."

Anyone who can help trace Derek and Margaret should contact Sally Hayes at the Mayor's office on Bolton 522311 ext 1090.
