Do you know what I would like to be?
A bird up in the sky.
To be so free and then to see
The world just passing by.
I would fly away across the sea,
And go to distant lands.
It would not take much time for me,
But it would be so grand.
Of course, I would then rest awhile
Upon a lovely tree. And then I would look down and smile
At the people I would see.
To me this is a dream of mine,
Some days I feel like this.
To spread my wings and really fly
From everything there is.
But then I know that this is wrong,
We have to live each day.
To try and make our life a song,
And not to fly away. Doris Southall, Runnymede Court
