SIR: In a recent BEN Business Page feature, Sir David Trippier - the Chairman of Marketing Manchester - was described as the globe-trotting-knight, who was busy 'spreading the word' for Manchester (and Bolton), to create an indelible image of the area.
It goes without saying, that little - if anything - will be mentioned on his travels about the mile-long Supertip that Bolton MBC are still proposing to site alongside the new retail/leisure development at Red Moss.
The fact that this Supertip project is doomed to fail is secondary, when you consider the detrimental influence that such a proposal - which lingers on and on like a cancerous growth - will undoubtedly have on potential investors in the complex, and the 2002 Commonwealth Games committee. The time has surely come for Bolton Council to cut their losses, before the Superstadium Complex becomes anunfinished landmark, similar to the one left by Lord Leverhulme at Rivington, many years ago.
