YOUNGSTERS at an end of term disco had to do a quickstep to the playground after a DJ sparked a 999 scare.
Children were dancing in the school hall when the DJ's smoke machine triggered fire alarms at Lowton West Junior and Infants School on Slag Lane, Leigh.
Teachers evacuated the building and two fire engines rushed to the school just after 7pm yesterday.
Firefighters soon gave the all clear and the dancing resumed - without special effects.
