A policeman tracked down a portable generator snatched from a back garden - by following a trail of oily footprints.
The officer was called after the generator was reported stolen from a house in Hatfield Road, Brownlow Fold, Bolton, yesterday.
A 25-year-old man was due to appear before Bolton Magistrates today, charged with burglary and possession of drugs.
