SIR: Bolton Labour councillor Stuart Murray should realise his plan to get plaques in local cinemas for Leslie Halliwell, who authorised the noted Halliwell Film Guides. Leslie's works were quite outstanding; his books will be studied by historians for decades if not for centuries!
The North west provided great film stars like "The Wigan Plumber's daughter" Marie Ault and, as the BEN district correspondent Jacqueline Goodwin pointed out, actor Robert Shaw had "solid Westhoughton links". No wonder Westhoughton folk have pride!
Margery Booth (Wigan) sang at "The Berlin Opera House" and Elizabeth Larner, also from the Wigan area, starred in scores of "huge" musicals like Kismet and Camelot at Drury Lane.
