A FORMER Bolton School pupil has been appointed Operations Director of the London-based House of Fraser retail group.

Stephen Hibbert, aged 48, whose mother and late father used to run a grocer's shop in Longsight, Harwood, will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the organisation and development of the group's 51 stores.

He began his career in retail with C & J Clark Ltd, graduating from management trainee to store manager of Peter Lord Ltd. He occupied a number of senior positions in the Burton Group between 1972 and 1993, including the roles of Retail Operations Director at Principles, Top Shop, Top Man and Dorothy Perkins.

In 1993 he joined Texas Homecare Ltd as Retail Operations Director.

House of Fraser is scheduled to open five new stores before the end of the decade in Swindon, Nottingham, Reading, Kent and Solihull.
