SIR: I am complaining about the new so-called super buses - the long ones. I catch the 501 or 502 pretty often near my home and the step is so high I just stand there looking at it debating whether I can pull myself up or not. I find it very hard to pull myself up on the step and the drivers just look at you waiting for you to get on so they can be on their way. I have confronted many drivers but with no response. I was once coming back from Farnworth on the 501, and I said to the driver: "I don't know if I can get on your bus or not.' He just looked at me and a kind lady who was behind me helped me up. I travel to Wigan once a week and the bus I catch from Wigan bus station to Worsley is the new long bus just like ours but it has two lots of steps, two to get on near the driver, and two lower ones on the other side, both of them are easy to get on. Can something not be done to these buses to help people like myself who have difficulties.
