SIR: I refer to the proposed closure of Bolton Greyhound stadium.
It appears Bolton Council have been conned into giving planning permission for a multi-screen cinema etc.
The management of the stadium said, they would close down if planning permission was not given.
I cannot see the directors of the stadium closing the place.
After many problems of the change to racing under NGRC rules (forced upon owners and trainers by the management), such as taking many months to install an outside hare, things have now settled down.
You only have to attend recent meetings to see the increase in attendances. It seems greyhound tracks have become a target for developers, with the closure of tracks close to here in recent years.
I hope greyhound racing continues in Bolton for a long time to come and the developers disappear like they did a few years ago.
