But Mrs Alice Chambers of Minster Close, Bolton, reckons the wrong spelling of THICK in Thicketford Road really does say a lot about the person who created the sign.

On one side of the road, near the Crompton Way junction, the name is correctly given as Thicketford Road. On the other, it appears as Thcketford Road. The i is missing.

A £1.2 million scheme has been unveiled to take Farnworths industrial heritage into the 21st century.

Council chiefs are planning to bring 24 mills back to life and create 100 new jobs.

A £300,000 European Regional Development Fund grant has been secured.

THE people of this country have always known that the Catholic Church is interested in education, and when we show that we can make such sacrifices they know how deeply we feel about our Catholic system of education, said Mons. J. Cunningham, Vicar Capitular of Salford, when he opened and blessed the extensions of Thornleigh Salesian College on Saturday.

AN agreement has been signed between the British Petroleum Company, Ltd., and the South-eastern Gas Board for the production of town gas from oil in a plant to be erected by the board at the companys Kent oil refinery, Isle of Grain.

It will be the first plant in Britain to use oil products on a large scale as the only material for gas production.

THE water in store in the Corporation reservoirs was reported to the Waterworks Committee, yesterday, to be 606 million gallons, equal to 93 days supply.

THE Commissioners in Lunacy in their report to the Lord Chancellor, which was issued yesterday, state that the number of persons in England and Wales on January 1st last as duly certified insane was 119,829. This was 2,630 in excess of the number on the same day of 1904.
