C JOHNSTONE has obviously not read the letters properly about Bolton being in Lancashire.
If he/she had, it would have been clear that the points mentioned in their letter have already been covered.
Yes, we know about the 1974 re-organisation, but we also know it was done away with a few years later. Greater Manchester IS NOT now the name of a county.
The signs saying "Welcome to Lancashire" and "Welcome to Greater Manchester" are exactly the signs we are fighting to get rid of!
Wake up, C Johnstone!
We live in Bolton, Lancs - we always have and always will. Manchester itself is in the county of Lancashire. And most things pre-1974 were a lot better than they are today.
