EXPERIENCED Super League winger Lee Greenwood is the latest newcomer to join Tony Benson's Leigh Centurions revolution.

With well over 50 Super League games under his belt, Benson's sees Greenwood as just the sort of consistent finisher his squad needs.

The 25-year-old has become Benson's 13th close-season signing.

The Leigh coach is delighted with his capture. "Lee's made a big commitment to join us. He's been over, had a look round and is exciting by what we are trying to put together here," he says.

"He's very experienced at the top level and handles himself very professionally - just the type of player that will fit in perfectly. Lee's got bags of pace and knows where the tryline is. The fans are in for some exciting times watching him in action."

Halifax-born Greenwood first began his pro career with Sheffield Eagles but he was quickly snapped up by his hometown club form whom he played 43 times. He joined London Broncos in 2002, scoring 17 tries in 26 games. Last season he played on loan with Huddersfield. Greenwood was also capped by England in 2004.

Meanwhile, two more of Leigh's overseas recruits arrive this week. Forward Rob Roberts flew in from Australia on Thursday with Cook Islander Dana Wilson due in from Auckland the following day. Tere Glassie will be in Leigh on December 5 and Aaron Heremaia the following week.

Worries over Heremaia's visa and work permit have now been removed. He and his Italian girlfriend brought forward their wedding to remove the immigration red tape that had held up his arrival.

Two of Leigh's three long-term casualties are making good progress but a third, Neil Turley, is causing Benson some concern.

Turley has barely been able to train yet as he is still hampered by the back injury that blighted his Super League debut.

"He's going to see another specialist this week in the hope that we can get to the bottom of the problem, says Benson. "He needs to get it sorted as quickly as possible if he's not to fall further behind the rest of the guys when it comes to fitness."

But there is good news surrounding centre Danny Halliwell who has about a month ahead of schedule in his recovery from a serious knee injury.

Half-back Mike Govin had knee surgery on Monday but his recovery has been helped by the amount of work he did before the operation. "Mike worked hard at his pre-hab, Benson says. "That will benefit him greatly when he starts his re-hab."

Govin is expected to be out until around April.

Another of last season's Super League squad has got himself fixed up with another club. Prop Richard Marshall has joined National League Two side Swinton.
