VISITORS to a community Christmas fair being staged from 10am-4pm on Saturday at Church Lane community centre in Lowton will have the opportunity to view the refurbished centre which is the base for a variety of activities.
Lowton based Alderman Tom Sherratt is hopeful that a similar transformation will be carried out at Laburnum Road Day Centre which is run by Wigan Social Services but due to close on January 8.
"The future of the Laburnum Road centre might be with community use. It could be the perfect place for a nursery or community church and an ideal meeting place for groups such as the elderly or WI," said Mr Sherratt.
