THIS is in response to Andrew Rothwells letter and the comments concerning evidence on why the Sukula family are here in Bolton.

His remarks about 2,700 people signing the petition and them not knowing where the Democratic Republic of Congo is. The people that have signed the petition did so because they care about other human beings regardless of where they are from.

He talks about people being experts on the DRC and evidence being credible. Well if he chose to check out facts before he writes letters he would know that on the December 1 there was a report by the BBC World Service who have followed up on what happens to failed asylum seekers and the evidence is pretty horrendous.

The actress Julie Hesmondhalgh (who plays Hayley in Coronation Street) is also pretty knowledgable on the DRC.

I cannot comment on why Amir Khan has signed the petition - it could be that he empathises with the family and does care.

Finally, if Andrew Rothwell needs evidence, I suggest he asks to see the scars that Mrs Sukula bears from the beating she received at the hands of the Militia, or speaks to the young children who witnessed it. If he still needs evidence I am sure the campaign can provide him with plenty .

Well done to the Evening News for daring to care.
