ART group founder Ron Oldacre has died aged 77.
Ron was for 28 years vice president of the Leigh-based Studio 77 Art Society which he and two friends started at Don Atherton's stationery shop in Railway Road.
He served in the Royal Air Force where he qualified as an instrument maker then became a photographer, including a period at the Burtonwood air base. In 1960 he joined the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority at Risley where he remained until his retirement.
Ron's work was exhibited around the North-west and he was best known for his oil paintings of aircraft and ships and as a member of The Burtonwood Association had a permanent exhibition of American aeroplanes.
His funeral took place on Thursday at Warrington.
