MAINE ROAD 3, ATHERTON LR 1: LR lost their first game in six, but can count themselves unlucky not have got something from their trip to Brantingham Road.
Greg Hall made some superb early saves from Craig Coote and Kristian Evans before Gareth Richards scored on the stroke of half time for Road.
Jerome Wright added a second just after the break, and although Wes Cathcart pulled Rovers back into it, they could not muster an equaliser.
Things got worse when Coote was sent off in the 75th minute for his second bookable offence, and Neil Chappell caught Rovers on the break to add a third.
